Strikers and Substitutes

Adam Armstrong, Striker – 7

Took an early opportunity from 20 yards and didn’t create the necessary bend.  Beautiful run and pass to set Che up for a second.  Created a couple yards to flash another shot just past the post.  Absolutely must bury his 43rd minute strike setup by KWP.  Armstrong’s slip runs caused Watford a lot of trouble, and even though he didn’t score he was consistently dangerous.  Goals are coming, we must place our trust in this.

Che Adams, Striker – 7

Easily Che’s best finish in a Southampton kit opened scoring.  Standing still, inside of the foot curler in the top corner.  Where did that come from?  Got caught with indecisiveness in his downward header that popped over the bar.  Yes, he still should have scored.  Some quality hold up play, mixed in with a couple of sloppy giveaways in the midfield.  Two goals in two, and if Che has proven anything, he is a streaky goalscorer.

Stuart Armstrong, Substitute Attacking-Midfielder – 5

If you wonder why Stu hasn’t gotten a Premier League start just yet, it showed today.  He is just not in form yet from his long layoff.  A couple of his bursting runs from the midway line aside, he was sloppy in his passing.  When we get him full speed, watch out, but we must be patient.

Ibrahima Diallo, Substitute Centre-Midfielder – 7

Ralph trusting him down the stretch in place of JWP had to provide a big confidence boost.  Made a huge tackle when Watford were running with numbers.  One sloppy pass late, but the manager is going to find a way to get him in the lineup.

Lyanco, Substitute Centre-Defender – N/A

Came on late, too late, but helped clinch the clean sheet.
