Midfielders

James Ward-Prowse, Centre-Midfielder – 6

Getting slack for his FK, but it’s his targets who fail to arrive.  Finally got to see him go for goal and nearly snuck it in the near post in the 53rd.  Wasn’t as clean as usual in possession and made a catastrophic pass that led to the equaliser.  Cannot be as hard on him for keeping Maupay onside as he was just trying to cover for his injured keeper.

Oriol Romeu, Centre-Midfielder – 6

Real positive in early possession, so calm spinning out of pressure of multiple defenders.  Exposed when he needs to cover significant ground, even running against an opponent with the ball.  His floated passes when Brighton sat deep slowed the lateral attack.  Early in the season he wouldn’t take these chances, but now that he is, they aren’t paying off.  How he still considers diving in late in matches in front of his own 18 is unbelievable.

Nathan Tella, Attacking-Midfielder – 6

Nearly won a penalty, marginally beaten by Duffy to the free ball.  Missed an interception at the top of the box, leading to Brighton’s first big chance.  Flashed his pace in the 20th minute for the first time.  Very talented with a defender on his back, drops his shoulders effectively to create space.  Decision-making must improve, and will with game time, but he could have done better with the space he was afforded.  Three silly fouls, including 1 off the ball with Broja going forward earned him a yellow.  His pressure on the ball is his greatest asset, and once he figures out how to attack, he is going to be brilliant.

Nathan Redmond, Attacking-Midfielder – 7

Quiet first 30 until his flicked header assisted Broja.  Watch his run after that pass; it doesn’t exist.  He’s an excellent facilitator, without the desire to score.  Created a big chance for Tino to find Broja in the 50th minute following a tackle at midfield.  Broke lines all day today and rolled out of pressure to relieve his teammates so many times off the dribble.  Can’t scapegoat him today.
