“He’s a massive plus” – Southampton out-on-loan star hailed as a ‘livewire’ after goalscoring display
Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver has hailed Southampton loan star Kazeem Olaigbe’s impact on the Sulphurites as ‘massive’.
Olaigbe joined EFL League Two club Harrogate on loan in January after cutting short his temporary stint with Ross County. He will remain with the Sulphurites until the end of the season, continuing his progress as a player.
Since completing a deadline-day switch in the winter transfer window, the winger has made three appearances for Harrogate. He made his third start for the club in their league match against Crewe Alexandra at the weekend.
The Southampton talent marked the occasion by scoring his first goal for the fourth-tier club. He also provided an assist for the side, who played out a 2-2 draw with Crewe.
Speaking after the game, Harrogate manager Weaver waxed lyrical about Olaigbe’s goalscoring performance. He labelled the 20-year-old attacker a ‘livewire’. The English tactician told BBC Radio York:
"“He’s a livewire. We’ve looked for that kind of player since Jack Diamond. [It’s] not easy out there, so we had to go all the way to the south coast to find him.”"
Weaver explained that he has been pleased with what he has seen from Olaigbe so far. The Harrogate boss believes the Southampton loanee has the ability to draw fans into the stadium. He said:
"“He has been brilliant. So far, you have to say, he’s a massive plus. He’ll bring the supporters in here, which we have always tried to do.” “We are always trying to entertain, bring players in so that supporters will come out and watch football games in our support.”"

Having netted his first goal for Harrogate, Olaigbe will be keen to add more to his tally in the coming weeks. Weaver, on the other hand, will be hopeful that the youngster will help in his bid to survive relegation this season.
It is worth noting that the Belgium Under-20 international spent the first half of the season at Scottish Premiership club Ross County. He made 25 appearances across all competitions for them, scoring two goals and providing an assist in the process.
