Southampton player ratings from demoralising 1-0 loss to Leeds United
Kamaldeen Sulemana (ST) – 4/10 – Appeared to be the Saints’ most dangerous player in the first half, but was rightfully maligned by Selles for slowing down a counter-attack. Didn’t make an impact in the second half before being subbed.
Paul Onuachu (ST) – 4/10 – Had Southampton’s first shot on target of the afternoon. But, not after that. Had four unstable touches (no other player had more), and summed up his game.
Substitutes
Ibrahima Diallo (CM) – 4/10 – Can be blamed for failing to track his man for Firpo’s winner. Was also booked during his time on the pitch. Added a bit more aggressiveness into the midfield after coming on, making a total of five tackles.
Sekou Mara (ST) – 4.5/10 – Tried to make things happen, but hardly contributed. The Saints did not have noteworthy attacks towards the end of the game anyway.
Theo Walcott (AM) – 5/10 – Like Mara, tried to make things happen. But, could hardly contribute as the visitors struggled to get things going.
Kyle Walker-Peters (LB) – 5.5/10 – Made a good block not long after he came on. Made a good run as well, although he eventually gave away the ball himself.
Adam Armstrong (ST) – N/A – Came on after the 80th minute. Hardly had a chance to make an impact.
