Following their relegation to the EFL Championship, Southampton will be eager to undergo a full rebuild this summer.

Swansea manager Russell Martin, 37, looks increasingly likely to take the hot seat at St Mary’s following the departure of Ruben Selles.

Martin will likely be at the helm for the rebuild with a lot of players almost certainly set to leave the club this summer including the likes of James Ward-Prowse, Romeo Lavia and Mohammed Salisu.

Therefore, let’s take a look at five players that Southampton could bring in this summer as part of their rebuild for the 23/24 Championship campaign.

Here are five players that Southampton could sign this summer

1. Alex Scott – Bristol City

Guernsey-born Alex Scott, 19, would be a fantastic capture for Southampton if they had the chance to sign him this summer.

Scott is a very versatile player who has played in a varied range of positions including winger, wing-back and central midfield for Bristol City this season and has been excellent in each one.

The 19-year-old possesses tricky footwork and excellent dribbling which caused him to be the most fouled player in the Championship this season.

The midfielder scored one goal and racked up five assists in 42 league appearances in the recently-concluded season.

Scott will be able to play in a box-to-box role in central midfield and could possibly fill the hole that James Ward-Prowse would leave if he was to depart the club this summer.

The England Under 20 international has attracted a lot of interest from potential suitors, which has caused the Robins to slap a £25m price tag on him. Therefore, it will be a very hard transfer for the Saints to pull off but it would certainly send a statement to other sides in the second tier.
