Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 29, left Southampton for Arsenal in 2011 but a return to St Mary’s could be a great move for both parties.

Oxlade-Chamberlain fell out of favour at Anfield after spending six years at Liverpool. The 29-year-old only made nine Premier League appearances in the 2022-23 season but scored a goal.

The former England international will be released from the club after his contract expires on June 30. The former Saint is now looking for a new challenge and a fresh start in the Championship could help him get his career back on track.

Oxlade-Chamberlain operates in central midfield and can bring some very valuable experience to the Saints, which will be crucial for their upcoming campaign.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s wage demands may be too expensive for the Hampshire side to afford, especially with reduced finances following the relegation.
