Southampton have a bid decision to make. After making the "difficult decision" of firing Russell Martin at the weekend, the Saints must seek his replacement.

In Russell Martin, Southampton trusted someone with a keen and expert eye for the game, while also benefitting his incredible personality and relatability to the players. In the end, it was his stubbornness which let him down.

So, these are two considerations will have in mind going forward. It might have been difficult to sack Russell Martin but replacing him might prove to be equally as difficult.

So, here are the current Odds Checker favourites to replace Russell Martin at Southampton...

3 most likely Russell Martin replacements Southampton are looking at

1. Danny Röhl (current Sheffield Wednesday)

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl is the bookies' favourite to become the next Southampton manager. The German manager is still new to senior management, with Sheffield Wednesday being his first permanent position.

However, Röhl does boast coaching experience at Southampton. Therefore, the 35-year-old would be best-placed as he has experience of working with some of the current Saints.

As it stands, Röhl has Wednesday ninth in the Championship table. Without a doubt, this is a respectable and impressive position for them.

Currently, Röhl is tipped at 5/4 odds (subject to change) for the Southampton job.

2. Carlos Corberán (current West Bromwich Albion)

Sticking with the theme of young Championship managers, Carlos Corberán is the next odds-on favourite to replace Russell Martin at Southampton.

Currently, the odds for Corberán to come in are at 7/1 (subject to change).

Corberán is slightly older than Röhl, but the Spanish manager is still just 41 years old. Therefore, he could be a great long-term option for the Saints, if he takes the job.

Corberán has experience of managing Huddersfield Town and Olympiacos before the Baggies job, therefore, he has a more impressive CV than Röhl.

3. David Moyes (former West Ham United)

David Moyes is the third favourite manager to come in and replace Russell Martin at Southampton.

According to Odds Checker, the odds for Moyes to come in are currently 10/1 (subject to change).

David Moyes would be available straight away for Southampton. He is currently without a job, after being shown the exit door at West Ham in the summer transfer window.

Moyes is a legendary manager with undeniable experience in the Premier League. He has managed great teams such as Everton, Man United and West Ham. He has also avoided relegation a few times and he's a European champion. This HAS to count for something.
