Nobody quite knows what Tonda Eckert's fate will be.
This week, an FA hearing will take place that will decide what the Southampton manager's individual punishment is for his involvement in Spygate, with the Saints already kicked out of the Championship playoffs at the end of last campaign, when all this drama originally occurred.
Post the 2-1 Wrexham defeat just before the international break, Eckert pleaded for forgiveness, with the outcome of the hearing very uncertain. Will he have to face up to a touchline ban?
Or will he be banned completely? 18 months away from the beautiful game is the harshest possible penalty I've read, according to reports, as the German sweats over his short-term future at St. Mary's, leading up to the dreaded hearing on Thursday.
Saints Marching has reported on some in-house replacements the promotion chasers could look at for some continuity, if the worst possible scenario plays out.
They could also look externally, with Football League World recently drafting up a name of interesting names who might well succeed the 33-year-old.
Who could replace Eckert?
FLW have listed a wide range of names who might fancy the challenge of managing the Championship titans, post the controversial, but win-heavy reign of Eckert.
The site boldly lists Thomas Frank as a potential option, who did get Brentford promoted to the big time, before solidfying the Bees as a Premier League staple.
Alongside Frank being thrown into the suggestion pile, Rob Edwards and Sean Dyche also feature as EFL-experienced replacements.
While the Saints CEO Phil Parsons has asserted in interviews that the club aren't looking into replacements currently, as they remain fully behind their Berlin-born boss, they could be pushed into making a decision, if he is handed a lengthy sanction.
There's one further manager who FLW have suggested who could be an interesting Eckert successor, as he loves winning promotion up to the Premier League, which is what Southampton are so desperately craving.
This promotion expert might possibly be his successor
The manager in question here is the out-of-work Scott Parker, who has had a very successful managerial career in the Championship, after featuring for the likes of West Ham United and Fulham as a midfield battler during his playing days.
His Premier League numbers are pretty abject, with only 13 wins collected from 86 top-flight contests, but as a potential short-term option to soften the blow of Eckert, he could be perfect, as he's a serial promotion winner when managing in the demanding second tier.
Staggeringly, Parker, despite his failures in the Premier League, has 76 wins next to his name from 136 Championship clashes, with Fulham, AFC Bournemouth, and Burnley all sealing promotion under his expert guidance.
207 goals were scored along the way, as well, so the hope would be that the 45-year-old could work his magic on another supremely talented group of players at St. Mary's.
He got the very best out of the likes of Dominic Solanke, who had 30 goals from 50 games under his tenure at the Cherries.
Hopefully, Larin's goals would keep flowing with the Londoner in charge.
Likewise, he's had the pleasure of managing Josh Brownhill, who had 18 goals under Parker from 44 games. Finn Azaz loves a goal and an assist from the middle of the park, as well, so he could fit into the 45-year-old's preferred 4-2-3-1 system as a dynamic number ten.
Before anyone gets too carried away, this is all just speculative talk, as Eckert will - fingers crossed - stay in charge of the promotion candidates.
But, if the Eckert situation goes south, Southampton could do far worse than handing Parker the job, even his persona from the sidelines, and in his impassioned dressing room team talks, can be a little marmite.
