European club leaves Walker-Peters red-faced and Saints must avoid further move

Besiktas backs off from signing ex-Saint veteran Kyle Walker-Peters, whom Southampton shouldn't call back after a farewell departure.

Some days ago, Saints heard of Jose Mourinho's interest in Walker-Peters, and the incident would have bewildered the supporters further. After all, firstly denying Southampton a possible paycheck and then siding with Mourinho's rivals, Besiktas, makes little sense.

But finally, as destiny seemed to have it all planned, Walker-Peters isn't escaping the repercussions of these extreme steps any time soon.

That's because, in a surprise turn of events, Walker-Peters' efforts for a Besiktas move go in vain as the Turkish giant officially announces looking past him now.

While the full-back's Besiktas interest looked concrete on the surface, Walker-Peters' casual approach has turned off the club. And now, it's a contract that feels like it will never be discussed again.

Recently, Besiktas announced their Walker-Peters' decision, saying: "It is publicly known that the arrival of professional football player Kyle Walker-Peters, with whom we previously announced an agreement in principle and invited him to Istanbul for a medical examination, has been postponed. Today, Kyle Walker-Peters notified us, requesting an extension. Consequently, our club has withdrawn its transfer."

Besiktas' decision leaves Walker-Peters future uncertain

Needless to say, this update would have hit Kyle Walker-Peters right in the chin as he flounders a crucial Besiktas opportunity due to half-hearted enthusiasm. And just so, now, the right-back has another transfer door closed after being rejected by Fulham earlier.

But the worst part is yet to come. That's because the former Saint veteran has lost the safety net of a St. Mary's call-back, also.

Admit it or not, it wasn't much before that Saints fans would have wholeheartedly welcomed Walker-Peters if the player couldn't finalise a transfer this summer. To say, clearly, the defender has lost the privilege now for his cold shoulders to Southampton lately.

Well, what this means is former Saint Walker-Peters is now in the same boat as ex-Saints boss Danny Rohl. With the summer window fast heading, both their future remain uncertain.

Yet, interestingly, despite their overconditional love for the duo, Southampton fans would not feel sorry for them as before. Let's wait and see how they ultimately end up by the summer.
