Southampton's former wonderkid Nathaniel Clyne wins the FA Cup with Crystal Palace after upsetting Manchester City at Wembley.

For the second year running, the Premier League is starting to sound like a closed shop for the newly promoted clubs. Though it's quite early to debate on this idea, one thing is certain that atleast the Cup competitions are free from these blames at the moment.

For over a decade, the magic of the Cup used to be talked about in the knockout stages at best. Now, the iconic phrase can be literally felt during every Wembley showpiece event.

A few months ago, Newcastle United got the better of Liverpool and yesterday, Crystal Palace delivered the unexpected upset on the former English champions. As a Southampton fan, these evenings boost hopes about the Saints also adding to their FA Cup trophy cabinet someday, if not in the near future.

Clyne joins Livramento in special Southampton list

Presently, the Southampton fans can only find those silverware happiness by watching their former players lift those titles. In the Newcastle camp, Tino Livramento was the familiar Saints face whose achievement has been mirrored by Nathaniel Clyne at Palace.

Similar to Livramento, Clyne was also billed with a one-to-watch-out-for tag after leaving St. Mary's, but the latter's career has been more about struggles than success. Regardless, the 34-year-old has carved out a decent Premier League reputation over the years, and his trophy collection isn't too bad either.

Call it strange, but both of these former Saints are fullbacks by trade, and they could be accompanied by another position-mate in a few days. That's because Luke Shaw's Manchester United are also preparing for their grand Europa League final and should they edge Tottenham there, Shaw would complete this fullback trinity to bag memorable honours this season.

Will that happen? Let's see.
