Despite it not working out for Will Still at Southampton, the young manager will no doubt return to the dugout soon.

Will Still was a highly rated young English manager before his short-lived stint with Southampton. He has English parents but was born in Belgium, and that is where he started his managerial career. Still managed Lierse and Beerschot before heading to France with Stade de Reims and Lens.

The Saints parted ways with Still after just 16 games in all competitions. 13 of these matches were in the Championship, where he had a record of two wins, six draws, and five defeats. Southampton were 21st when he was sacked, but have since climbed up to 17th. The club received a new manager bounce under interim coach Tonda Eckert.

Still also managed three EFL Cup games, where he defeated Norwich City and Northampton. However, his side eventually came unstuck against the Premier League champions Liverpool. This was unlucky for Still as his former player at Stade de Reims, Hugo Ekitiké, scored the late winner for the Reds.

His reputation has been knocked, and the 33-year-old will need to rebuild his career elsewhere. Here are four potential landing spots for Still.

Four clubs that Will Still could end up after leaving Southampton

AJ Auxerre

Still will likely have to move abroad in search of his next job. However, this could be difficult as he left France to be closer to his partner Emma Saunders of Sky Sports, who is suffering from encephalitis.

His former club Lens is currently third in Ligue 1, so they will not want to part ways with their manager, Pierre Sage, any time soon. The manager under pressure in France's top flight is Auxerre's Christophe Pélissier.

Auxerre are currently bottom of Ligue 1, so it is not the most appealing job. Still may want to bide his time before a more attractive option in France comes up.

Stade de Reims

Still's other former team in France, Stade de Reims, now find themselves in Ligue 2. They are managed by Karel Geraerts, but are sixth in the division.

If Reims wants to make it back to the top flight of French soccer, then turning to their former boss Still would make sense.

However, Still may feel that he is above dropping down a division in France after doing so well in Ligue 1. With Lens, he finished eighth, whilst with Reims, Still managed two 11th-place finishes.

Celtic

Another recent managerial casualty of Southampton, Russell Martin, went on to manage Rangers. However, he had a more impressive CV than Still, as he had guided the Saints to promotion to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs.

It did not work out for Martin at Rangers, so their rivals, Celtic, may be hesitant about appointing an ex-Saints manager. The Hoops are on the lookout for a new permanent boss after Brendan Rodgers resigned.

Their former boss, Martin O'Neill, is currently in charge on an interim basis. However, Celtic currently trails Heart of Midlothian by seven points in the Scottish Premiership.

It would be a gamble for Celtic to appoint Still, who has limited experience in British soccer. It would certainly be a great opportunity for Still, as he would finally be at a club that is the favorite for titles.

Norwich City

Norwich City finally sacked Liam Manning last weekend, with the Canaries sitting second from bottom in the Championship. Taking a chance on Still would be a gamble, and the former Southampton boss would not want to be a part of two poor campaigns in one single season.

The Canaries need a manager with the ability to survive a relegation battle. It would be a catastrophe if Norwich went down to League One. It is difficult to see any English team giving Still a shot after his short spell with Southampton.

Still may have to rebuild his career in League One if he wants to stay in England. However, he may feel better opportunities lie abroad than in the third tier of English soccer.
