RB Leipzig are making moves to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton. Sigh, Jurgen Klopp has come back to haunt the Saints in his new role...

Jurgen Klopp achieved incredible success at Liverpool. After he took the plunge by leaving Borussia Dortmund, Premier League fans questioned whether he would be able to keep up with the demands of the best league in the world.

Long story short, to say that he "kept up with the demands" of the Premier League would now be considered an insult in hindsight. He changed the trajectory of Liverpool and returned them to their glory days.

So, when he announced that he would retire at the end of the 2023/24 season, everybody was surprised. Nevertheless, it was the perfect time to reflect.

From a Southampton perspective, while we wouldn't want to belittle Klopp's achievements in England, we definitely deserve our flowers for playing our part. After all, Liverpool's success under Klopp was underpinned by Southampton producing some of their best players.

Well, as the old saying goes, old habits die hard. Jurgen Klopp might not be at Liverpool anymore but he still has a keen eye on Southampton, if recent transfer news is anything to go by.

Jurgen Klopp has come back to haunt Southampton in transfer window

We reported yesterday that Southampton had received a bid from RB Leipzig for Tyler Dibling. The bid was around £25m and understandably, it was swiftly rejected by Southampton.

RB Leipzig are very similar to the Saints in the sense of producing young players for the European market. However, this time, Leipzig eyed Southampton as their own feeder club.

Now, I'm not going to give you any prizes for guessing who plans all the transfers at RB Leipzig. Yep, you guessed it, it's Jurgen Klopp.

In his first job after leaving Liverpool, Klopp was unveiled as the Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, which means he advises all the RB clubs on transfers.

It remains to be seen whether or not Klopp was key to RB Leipzig pursuing Southampton, however, we wouldn't put it past the Liverpool legend.

This time, though, he had no luck. Usually, I would say better luck next time but let's hope there isn't a next time.
