Matt Le Tissier believes Saints will be accompanied by Ruben Selles' Sheffield United in the Premier League next season.

The 100-hour countdown for the Championship has begun, and starting within days, a thrilling season awaits fans. And it's by far evident that the phase of promotion predictions and Top-6 debates is long gone as footballing action is set to kick off soon.

Well, exceptions to this unwritten rule also exist, as in when Saints fans are listening to club icon Matt Le Tissier's forecasts and opinions. To say, the reason is simple because the legend always pre-notices things that send Saints into an "Oh, that makes sense" realisation.

Needless to say, the Saints are excited once again to see how good Le Tissier's verdict proves this time around. And the fact that, unlike most, he isn't resorting to the conventional bias for the Premier League dropouts is what makes Le Tissier's promotion take interesting for all.

Recently, talking on the Championship favourites, Le Tissier went a step ahead of naming sides like Ipswich and Southampton, to put Sheffield United in the same basket as these clubs. As quoted by the Leader Live, Le Tissier mentioned: “Sheffield United are a team that are always up there while you might get teams like Norwich challenging."

Saints tipped to face Ruben Selles more than often in upcoming seasons

Honestly, for a fair share of the audience, this Le Tissier statement will come across as dubious, with a near-relegated boss, Ruben Selles, handed the responsibilities of last season's Wembley finalist. Interestingly, still, Sheffield's recent results say otherwise.

Having convincingly dominated every preseason friendly except for the one against Top Flight suit Nice, Selles' leadership hasn't let down Sheffield, if not improved them. And with the side scoring for fun, they might go all the way this time, not missing out on a Premier League ticket again.

Just imagine if this goes through. Not only would this prove Le Tissier's forecast correct on the spot again, but it would kickstart a new rivalry between the ex-boss and current manager, Will Still, for years to come.

Interesting, isn't it, how Southampton fans went from anticipating a faceoff with former manager Danny Rohl to now Ruben Selles within months. Let's see where the season takes us ahead.
