Speaking ahead of the Southampton vs Liverpool match, Arne Slot is cautious that the Saints can provide as much of a challenge as Real Madrid and Man City.

Liverpool's next three games include Southampton, Real Madrid and Man City. Those beady-eyed may have noticed an odd one out of those three clubs. I guess, if we must be unbiased, Southampton are not at the same level as Real Madrid and Man City.

However, Liverpool must not come to St Marys Stadium expecting an easy three points. This level of complacency is what's made some big teams slip up against some of the less favourable teams already this season, so Arne Slot will be cautious not to do that.

According to a report from Liverpool.com, Arne Slot has stated that Southampton should not be overlooked in Liverpool's upcoming schedule, despite also facing Real Madrid and Man City. The Dutch boss hyped up Southampton, saying they are equally a challenge.

In his own words, Arne Slot said: "I know everybody is looking at Madrid and City as difficult, but in my opinion Southampton is going to be a difficult one as well."

Well, Southampton should definitely take the compliment. Everybody knows deep down that Slot will be more fearful about facing Real Madrid and Man City... This is just part of being the two best clubs in the world. However, if he is taking Southampton just as seriously, then this is a testament to Russell Martin.

It is certainly true that the table doesn't necessarily reflect Southampton's time in the Premier League so far. They might be rock bottom but they have put in some great displays and arguably been unlucky not to take more points from some matches.

Right now, Liverpool are the best team in the country. Therefore, fans can forgive the Saints if they don't pick up points this weekend. What they cannot forgive the players for, though, is if they don't try.
