Man United legend Paul Scholes predicts a 7-0 scoreline in favour of Manchester City against Southampton, surprising football fans and even ex-teammate Gary Neville.

Every Southampton fan will agree that in recent years, the club has seen some of the darkest chapters ever engraved in its history. And what better than the worst team tag, which feels quite possible now, to clarify this?

Still, there's this one aspect in which the Saints can be proud of themselves. It's been not to concede more than 5 goals in a game, despite two relegations in three years now.

Otherwise, despite marking one of the club's best eras under ex-boss Ralph Hasenhüttl, they had witnessed some of the worst matchday humiliations under the manager. This included two record 9-0 defeats and a 6-0 thrashing by Chelsea at St. Mary’s.

But don't run away with this happiness, Saints fans, as in this ending phase of the season, Southampton is still to face Man City and Arsenal. And what makes it even scarier has been the pre-game pundit reactions of the matchday.

Take, for instance, Paul Scholes' scoreline prediction ahead of Manchester City's trip to St. Mary's.

On a recent Stick to Football episode, Scholes discussed the upcoming match with ex-teammate Gary Neville. Now, what's surprising is, the legendary midfielder was unimpressed with Neville’s modest 2-0 prediction in Man City's favour.

Instead, as quoted by the Manchester City News, Scholes replied: “Two? Jeez! I was thinking seven.”

Well, honestly, such a scoreline should hardly faze any Saints supporter for the season they have had. But what's actually surprising is Paul Scholes' brazen confidence in their Manchester rivals against Southampton.

This is because had it been some years ago, any such opinion from the one clubman, Scholes, in favour of their bittersweet rivals, Man City, would've felt impossible. Still, here we are, with the iconic midfielder hoping for a 7-0 thrashing by the Cityzens.

Anyway, for Southampton, who have endured a 0-9 battering against Man United earlier, it wouldn't be too much for them to concede seven against another Manchester club this time. Or maybe, we are in for a surprise at home.
