Mateus Fernandes is tipped to unite with Nottingham boss, Nuno Espirito, shall Forest come willing to shell out £30m for him.

Suddenly, almost out of thin air, Southampton midfielder Mateus Fernandes' transfer links have become the hot topic in the Saints camp. And all this, because of Nottingham Forest's advanced interest in the 20-year-old.

Now, given how the player's departure leads progress, with the Saints in search of a replacement, already, there's an overwhelming feeling among the fans. Yet, is it surprising? No. At least, not for the seasoned ones.

That's because of Portuguese coach Nuno's presence at the Nottingham club. For the coach who previously revolutionised Wolves' project with excellent returns on his national players, the idea of spending on his local talents isn't new.

And when it comes to grooming a rising star like Fernandes, that intent just becomes even stronger.

But, what's surprising further? Nuno Espirito's involvement in a potential Mateus signing is tipped to help Nottingham cut costs on his move. In fact, the midfielder may join the European dream enthusiasts for just around £30m, too.

Southampton tipped to accept Mateus Fernandes' departure for £30m

Recently, speaking to Football League World, Fan pundit Martin Sanders talked about Southampton's Fernandes stance, saying: “I think he’d get a move. We paid £15 million for him, so if they can get anything of £30 million upwards they’ll sell him I would imagine."

Honestly, as a transfer speculation, the £30m fee mentioned isn't much concerning. But if this amount transcends in a real move, hardly any Saints fan will be satisfied.

After all, having pushed their best for a £100m move for Tyler Dibling, isn't this fee too less of a valuation for Mateus Fernandes' consistent Saints performances? And that's when, even after sidelining for Southampton's compensation for their inputs in the raw Portuguese talent.

Well, the takeaway is quite clear. Initially, Southampton must try to dodge Mateus Fernandes' move. But, if it feels impossible to retain him, they shouldn't agree to anything less than £50m for him.

Rest, let's see till the summer, where the Mateus Fernandes transfer saga actually unfolds.
