Newcastle United's James Trafford swoop has been put into jeopardy by Manchester City's actions and Aaron Ramsdale could be the biggest winner of this unpredictable turnaround.

Manchester City's academy is wonderful. Now, this statement's purpose isn't to engage Southampton fans in the Saints versus City's talents arguments and who produces more superstars on the top level.

Instead, these feelings will be striking a tune with Aaron Ramsdale in respect to how things are playing out. For two reasons, firstly, due to ex-Cityzens wonderkid Shea Charles assist in yesterday's equalizer.

Secondly, due to another former Manchester City prodigy James Trafford. Yes, the Championship fame who put curtains on Ramsdale's potential Newcastle United move, when even the latter team was toying with the idea of having the luxury of the 27-year-old Saints stalwart among their keeping roster.

Now, Trafford isn't getting turned down by Newcastle but Manchester City's intervention can rule out their English rivals from claiming hold of the 22-year-old shot-stopper. That's because Trafford climbed through City's youth ranks, just like Shea Charles did, but he can be rewarded by Pep Guardiola's side to extend his journey to the first team as well.

Trafford slip can see Howe crossing paths again with Ramsdale

In his own words, Fabrizio Romano dropped this news and even mentioned an important point: "Contacts took place in the recent days as Man City have buy back clause, this is why Newcastle deal is not sealed yet."

Well, those are the words both Ramsdale and Southampton have been waiting to hear for so long, about failing keeper moves at any club. Plus, Manchester City may be struggling on the pitch for months but it's difficult to recall the last time they had to compromise on one of their dream targets, let alone when they have a buy back at their disposal.

Hence, Ramsdale is close to entering back into Newcastle's radar and it makes sense for Eddie Howe to reunite with the relegated star, as the entire turnaround is built upon Trafford's City reunion.
