An outspoken pundit has revealed his exact reasoning as to why David Moyes is better suited to other Premier League clubs, rather than Southampton.

David Moyes has been linked with the Southampton job recently. In fact, the Saints are one of four Premier League teams battling relegation, who have been linked with the expert of avoiding that fate.

However, it is not as simple as Southampton simply hiring David Moyes. This is due to multiple factors, not just their Premier League competition. In fact, the Southampton owners like Russell Martin, so they are willing to stick by him.

Also, there is a financial cost to cutting Russell Martin out midway through his contract. It is said to cost £12 million, if Southampton wish to sack Russell Martin at this stage.

Writing for the Daily Mail, Simon Jordan has said that Southampton are trained to play football in only one manner. This is not the way that David Moyes sets up tactically, so he would have an easier time elsewhere from Southampton.

In his own words, Jordan said: "Moyes would give any struggling side a chance of surviving if he took up the challenge. Southampton might be the trickiest ask because they have been conditioned to play one way and not the way David tends to do it."

This is a rather common criticism of Southampton, particularly in the Russell Martin era. However, it is unfair to say that a new manager coming in would struggle. It would be a struggle for any team battling relegation, this is why only a select group of managers are considered for such roles.

David Moyes has faced much tougher challenges than managing a Southampton side. One thing which is overlooked here is how big the Southampton squad is, compared to some of the other teams linked with David Moyes. This leaves even more room for tactical configuration.
