Paul Merson enrages Southampton fans again with ignorant Everton prediction

Paul Merson insists Everton will dominate Southampton tomorrow, ignoring that the Saints have defeated the hosts twice this season.

It's the second last matchday in the Premier League, and perhaps for the first time, all eyes are on a Southampton fixture. And the reason is not just the farewell matchday at Goodison Park, but the exciting buildup for it.

Recently, Saints boss Simon Rusk echoed his plan of gatecrashing Everton's special evening out and loud. Well, that bold claim has sparked mixed reactions across the Premier League fanbase.

For Southampton supporters, it's another confident claim from the manager after depriving Man City of a win last weekend. But while this group stands in complete support of the manager, the complete opposite has been the response of the remaining ones.

Needless to say, the denial group is led by one of the Saints' biggest critics, pundit Paul Merson.

Merson chips in with routine 3-0 prediction against Southampton

Despite not having left any stone unturned on Southampton's miseries, Merson sees them suffering again. Going with his usual Saints' forecast pattern, the pundit sees Southampton getting bashed 0-3 at Goodison.

Writing in his Sportskeeda column, Merson mentioned: "Southampton frustrated Manchester City last weekend, but I don't think they will spoil the party on Merseyside. Everton bidding goodbye to Goodison Park will be an emotional moment for many of their fans."

Honestly, had it been against any other side, Saints fans might've nodded to the prediction for once, forgetting their recent Man City result. Yet, not this time.

This is because David Moyes' Everton side has been the only English team that's suffered not once, but twice against Southampton this season. That's accounting for an earlier EFL Cup elimination followed by a narrow PL defeat at the hands of the Saints.

That's why for Paul Merson to come calling for a Southampton thrashing is peak ignorance at this stage.

But like the last time, the Saints must treat the criticism as fuel and prove Merson wrong, again. Let's go all in once and spoil Everton's final Goodison party.
