Southampton has a lot of young talents coming from their youth academy and displaying huge potential in their first-team appearances. One of them is 18-year-old right winger Sam Amo-Ameyaw, who came through the youth ranks at Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs before joining the Saints in 2022. Amo-Ameyaw made remarkable progress in the Southampton U21 team and was rewarded with his Premier League debut in a thrilling 4-4 draw with Liverpool on the final matchday of that season.

Last season, Amo-Ameyaw was in brilliant form for the U21 side and netted six goals and provided five assists in the Premier League 2. Further, he made three appearances in the championship as well, which included a start against Queens Park Rangers in a 2-1 win. Hence, Amo-Ameyaw is expected to take the next step in his career and become a regular starter for the Saints in the Premier League.

The 18-year-old has made one appearance in the 1-0 away defeat to Newcastle and scored a goal in a 5-3 win against Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup. However, Amo-Ameyaw hasn't played for Southampton after that, and several Southampton fans are left wondering the reason for his absence in the recent matches. Manager Russell Martin has spoken about Sam Amo-Ameyaw, saying,

""He's 18. He's already played a fair amount of minutes for us over the last season and a bit for his age. I think it's a lot compared to others. ""

Further, he pointed out the reason for Amo-Ameyaw's lack of game minutes, saying,

"He trains with us every single day and he has to keep improving. He's a really talented player, but he's physically not where Tyler is yet." "

Martin revealed that Amo-Ameyaw needs to work towards improving his physicality and match fitness in order to adapt well to the Premier League. Also, Martin highlighted Tyler Dibling's impressive physicality levels and hopes that Amo-Ameyaw will also be inspired by his teammate and will also make his first Premier League start quickly this season.
