Southampton have faced another 1-0 defeat in the Premier League. After an away defeat against Newcastle United, the Saints faced Nottingham Forest in a home fixture at the St. Mary's Stadium. Russell Martin's side hoped to take their first win of the new season in the second match.

While, Southampton were great in their passing and build up play, and dominated the possession and passing stats as compared to Forest, they took some heavy touches inside the final third and couldn't create much goalscoring chances. At the other end, Forest made several big chances whenever they advanced forward in the Southampton half and registered eight attempts on goal as compared to one from the Saints.

However, in the second half, Morgan Gibbs-White scored the only goal of the game as Nottingham Forest defeated Southampton by 1-0. Thus, the Saints need to sign a new goalkeeper to make more saves and a new centre forward that can score more goals for Southampton. Now, according to Caught Offside, Southampton are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Ramsdale joined Arsenal from Sheffield United in 2021 and had a great debut season at the Emirates Stadium. However, towards the end of the 2022/23 season, Arsenal conceded a lot of goals and signed David Raya as the new goalkeeper. Last season, Raya was in brilliant form which led Ramsdale getting less playing time for Arsenal.

Now, the 26-year-old can leave Arsenal this summer to join a new club, and Southampton can sign a brilliant goalkeeper to improve their defence. The report further states that the Saints want to sign Ramsdale on a season long loan from Arsenal to aim a mid table finish in the Premier League and avoid relegation this season.
