Ryan Manning acknowledges Lallana's remarkable career path and the role he holds in the Saints' dressing room.

It's a reality that any positive result has demanded a sea of efforts and sweat from Southampton's players and fans this season. Yet, kudos to the supporters, who have held back their emotions quite well, even in the most difficult of occasions.

Still, ask any St. Mary's faithful and they will admit to at least two incidents when they fell short of helping their tears.

One, when just a week ago, Southampton crossed the worst team tag barrier. And the other, when a month ago, the Saints fans realised they wouldn't see club legend Adam Lallana playing in their red and whites, again.

Yet what's surprising is that one hardly finds Saints supporters talking of the second instance, often. Thankfully, it's not been for negligence, but how Lallana's retirement has come in handy for the club's primary success.

Appreciably, in his initial credentials as a manager, Lallana's contribution as an assistant has been crucial in interim Simon Rusk's success. Be it sharing his experience, or cohesing the squad, Lallana deserves it all for helping a Saints squad that stood divided, not much before.

But, still for that premature retirement sentiment? Well, the love of Saints players for Adam Lallana suffices for it.

Ryan Manning highlights Adam Lallana's dressing room contribution

Just see, how recently, Ryan Manning showered the icon with the biggest possible farewell compliment.

As quoted by the Daily Echo, Manning talked of Lallana's importance in the dressing room, saying: "He's played in the Champions League, for England and everything. So when he talks, everyone instantly respects him and appreciates what he has to say."

Well, even in your second spell at the club, getting such respect from the players post early retirement is simply commendable. That's why Adam Lallana is winning big in his Southampton spell.

Maybe not trophies, but the icon is living a dream farewell of many. Let's hope Lallana remains linked anyway with Southampton, at least for some years more.
