Saints must break transfer record for starlet who enjoys Chelsea icon's backing

Southampton may intend to shuffle their record signings list after Kamaldeen Sulemana's exit and Jack Rudoni could be a perfect value-for-money candidate.

For the last three years, every Southampton fan is used to labelling Kamaldeen Sulemana as the record transfer, though not the shrewd signing in any capacity. Well, with Sulemana tipped to call it quits at St. Mary's, there could be changes to those beliefs and hopefully, the Saints can get the best of both worlds too.

Now, if you are imagining another lucrative goalscorer deal, then, you are in for a midfield surprise. Plus, that's not someone to fill Lesley Ugochukwu's boots but he indeed finds himself in the good books of a Chelsea fan favourite.

As suggested by the Daily Echo, it's Frank Lampard's trusted playmaker Jack Rudoni.

Rudoni's rapid progress draws parallels with Mason Mount

A couple of weeks ago, Southampton were rumoured to be keeping tabs on him but the entire month hasn't seen Rudoni become the talk of the transfer town. This could be a massive blow to Coventry's sale ambitions if they are inclined to that idea but the Saints won't mind facing a quiet competition for one of the almost playoff-finalists.

Further, those of you who have tuned in to watch him will agree that Rudoni is close to becoming a Premier League material. But if you haven't, then there is nothing wrong in recalling Lampard's Derby County spell.

There, too he nearly delivered promotion and had a flair number ten in his ranks, Mason Mount. The duo then starred for the Blues and Mount remained a Three Lions regular for a couple of years.

Although it's been downhill for Mount the last few seasons, his brief stay at Chelsea should be enough for Southampton to make up their mind about adding Rudoni to their ranks.
