Cyle Larin is now officially Southampton's player for good.

After Daniel Peretz put pen to paper on a permanent move, the next switch that made the most sense was tieing down the Canadian striker to a set-in-stone deal, with a two year contract agreed.

He will be focused on the World Cup that's fast approaching for his nation, but after that, he will be raring to go with the Saints, again, as he hunts down the promotion that was cruelly discarded due to Spygate.

Larin will be raring to go

Larin was over the moon in the interview that officially confirmed this permanent return to St. Mary's, stating that he was "very happy" to be back.

The 31-year-old's inspired form in front of goal for the Saints allowed him to be called up for the Canada national team, with Jesse Marsch taken aback by his eight goals in Championship action, from only ten starts.

Tonda Eckert was very impressed, too, with Larin noted as being a "proper presence" in the dressing room, away from his goalscoring heroics, by the German.

Therefore, on Larin's end, he must have felt there was unfinished business when Southampton's season was stopped in its tracks, with more red-hot performances to come, potentially resulting in Southampton finally reaching the Premier League.

Picking up the veteran striker was a gem that was unearthed from nowhere, with Larin on the books of La Liga outfit RCD Mallorca, before making the move to England.

It was a masterstroke of a decision to bring him in, with Southampton looking to uncover another Larin-style gem by shopping back in the La Liga market this summer.

Another Larin gem could be joining

Reports from Spain indicate that the South Coast side is keen on snapping up Jofre Carreras from Espanyol.

Carreras would actually feature against the Saints last summer in pre-season, with the Championship side clearly taking a note of his name, ahead of a possible future move.

Unlike Larin who has played all over the globe in countries such as Turkey and the Netherlands, alongside England, the Spaniard has only ever played in his home nation, for both Espanyol and ex-employers Mirandes.

His numbers don't immediately look breathtaking, with only nine goals and nine assists collected from 116 games for Espanyol. To make matters worse, he wasn't a guaranteed first-team starter last season under Manolo González, with sporadic minutes seeing him collect just one paltry goal from 26 appearances.

Yet, Larin arrived to St. Mary's off the back of only bagging one goal out on loan with Feyenoord, before becoming a crucial part of Eckert's promotion-chasing machine.

The 24-year-old's ability to play down either the left or right wing could also come in handy if Leo Scienza leaves, and the fact that the right channel at Southampton isn't overflowing with plentiful players, with Tom Fellows a hit-and-miss performer on this side of the pitch, means he could gain more minutes than he has done recently at Espanyol.

The number 17 could be worth gambling on, with Southampton falling head over heels for Larin the last time they took a slight punt on a La Liga attacker, who wasn't always being selected for the first team.
