While speaking to the Daily Echo, Southampton defender Charlie Taylor mentioned how a win against Swansea in the FA Cup would give them enough confidence needed.

Southampton FC is currently on an all-time low confidence. Although the year has changed, their problems still remain the same.

Towards the end of 2024, the Saints even changed managers. But, the on-field results haven't changed in their favor so far.

Having lost 7 out of their last 8 games, they play next against Swansea in the FA Cup today. Entering the fixture after a string of poor performances, a win here could mean everything for the club.

Now, it seems that the players approach the upcoming contest the same way.

Southampton defender believes Cup win will give Saints enough confidence

Speaking to the Daily Echo about the match preparations, Charlie Taylor said: “We are low on confidence at the minute, which is only natural with how things are going. A win on Sunday would do us the world of good."

Playing against a Championship side, Southampton has a brilliant opportunity. On top of that, the fixture holds individual importance for Taylor himself.

Not much ago, the player was considering a January exit due to lack of game time, but now Taylor has the golden chance to prove himself.

Being excited to start afresh under Ivan Juric, Charlie Taylor continued: “If I’m picked then great, it’s a chance to show him what I can do and what I’m about. It’s a big game for the club on Sunday."

In the current scenario, Taylor lies behind Ryan Manning and Walker-Peters for the left-back role. But, his hardworking attitude could make the difference.

Recently, former Southampton hero Jack Cork also praised Taylor as one of the key players to turn their season around. In case the full-back puts in an impressive performance against Swansea, the Saints might find a way to strengthen their defence.
