Southampton have their own Cole Palmer - And Chelsea fans are loving it
By Kian Long
Southampton of all teams have felt the Cole Palmer effect. Here's why Chelsea fans are loving a certain social media post from the Saints over the weekend.
The weekend was by no means a positive time to be a Southampton fan. Just before the international break, the men's team were defeated by Wolves and now sit rock bottom.
The season has been a lot kinder to the women's side, who are currently fourth in the Women's Championship. However, they dropped points against Durham at the weekend, which could have seen the Saints overtake them, had they won.
With that being said, there was a brilliant moment in the match. The moment which saw Southampton take the lead was one which brought Southampton and Chelsea fans together.

Aimee Palmer scored her first goal of the Women's Championship season within the opening 20 minutes. The midfielder was then hailed on X (formerly Twitter) as Southampton's very own "Cold Palmer", with a celebration graphic attributed to the celebration popularised by Cole Palmer.
In the replies, Chelsea fans shared their appreciation for the recognition of their star player. Comments from fans included "Ice Cold" and "Hope to see y’all promoted to WSL"
Southampton are having a great season so far. Next up, they will take on Newcastle United away from home in the Women's Championship. Hopefully, ice cold Aimee Palmer will pop up with her second goal of the campaign, having now found her scoring boots.
The Newcastle match aside, there is one fixture which sticks out like a sore thumb to Southampton fans. After facing the Magpies, Southampton take on Portsmouth in the Women's League Cup. Without a doubt, there will be plenty of support for the Saints in that derby day match-up.
