Former Saints academy forward Alejandro Gomes found the back of the net against Bayern Munich in a summer friendly, which could be the start of his first-team breakthrough season at Lyon.

Peeping at the rumours popping up over the future of ex-Saints defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles, it's obviously not looking good for French outfit Lyon. They could be up for a Southampton-style heavy exodus in August and, say whatever about the cashflow, but it's not a good puzzle to handle.

Firstly, they will make a concerted push to shore their first team with player additions, but for certain quality-thin spots, expect the youngsters to get their share of showtime as well. And don't forget, a released Saints prospect can also wear Lyon's senior team number more times than the training outfit.

Alejandro Gomes is the teenager in question, and Saints shouldn't just walk out from his talent just watching his age. No doubt, Alejandro can still have a lot of age-group ladders left to elevate his playmaking flair but he might be prepared to slot in as a supporting act in top-flight football.

Alejandro Gomes presented his Lyon first-team credentials against Bayern

Very recently, the centre forward was fielded in the Bayern Munich friendly and he gave perfect meaning to his impact substitute duty.

Stretching his legs, with the Germans easing past Lyon, Alejandro made the final ten minutes much lively with a brilliant counter-attack finish. Instantly, he would've reminded the French fans about their national superstar Rayan Cherki.

The new £34m Manchester City attacker also broke into the Lyon playing eleven way before his 18th birthday, and he clearly has been a rolemodel to behold for their young reserve sides.

Sharing similarities in a number ten role, Alejandro can also cement his name on the regular calendar teamsheet if his goals add value to their unit. Can he replicate that five times over the course of the league? Let's see if he can chase that mark.
