Only a select few Southampton players have the honour next to their name of scoring in a South Coast Derby.
The last time the Saints beat Portsmouth in a competitive fixture was in 2019 in the EFL Cup, as the then Premier League outfit won 4-0 at Fratton Park in a comprehensive victory, with Danny Ings helping himself to a brace.
James Beattie is another notable striker from years gone by that managed to help himself to a goal in such a nail-biting clash, as he found the back of the net right at the death in a 3-0 Premier League win in 2003.
He was only ever on the losing side once when lining up in the South Coast Derby, with the revered hero also coming out to state what he thinks should happen next with Tonda Eckert, as he enters a fresh phase of his managerial career at St. Mary's.
Beattie sends clear Eckert message
Beattie is recognised in the same breath as the likes of Rickie Lambert for being a potent goalscoring force when he donned Saints red and white.
Away from scoring that one-off strike in the South Coast Derby, he has 76 strikes in total for Southampton across 232 outings.
Therefore, he demands immediate respect, and he has sent a clear message to the Saints board as to what he thinks should happen with Eckert next, now his Spygate punishment has been revealed.
Indeed, he has just a six-week suspended ban to contend with, and Beattie believes a new contract should be coming the 33-year-old's way very shortly.
The current Reading coach said, when speaking on BBC Radio Solent, that an extended deal should be "high on the agenda" now his short-term future is more secure.
He deserves a bumper new contract, too, as he has managed to secure four Championship wins this season, all while being caught in the whirlwind of Spygate, still.
Eckert warrants a new contract
All four of those league victories this season have fallen on home soil, as well, as the Southampton fans continue to be head over heels for the inspired tactician.
15 goals have been put away for fun across those barnstorming four victories, with St Mary's the place to go if you want entertainment.
Staggeringly, Eckert hasn't lost at home in league action since January, which is hopefully not an unlucky omen for when Pompey come to town.
30 wins have come his way from his ongoing reign as Saints boss, both when he was a temporary option, and the main man in the dug-out, from 50 total matches, meaning he boasts a wonderful 60% win percentage.
With everything now dying down regarding Spygate, he could be a manager another higher up club looks at as an eye-catching addition on the sidelines, with a team in the Bundesliga perhaps willing to take a gamble on the Berlin-born boss down the line.
This is why the Southampton board should listen to Beattie's call for an extended deal, as his current contract expires next summer.
They've stuck by him through thick and thin, even when many outside voices said they should have alternative managers in mind, in case the EFL ruled with an iron fist, so they should display how strong their faith in him is by nailing him down to a fresh pact sooner rather than later.
