Finn Azaz delivered another sublime Southampton display against Portsmouth on Sunday lunchtime.

His defence-splitting pass was inch perfect for James Bree, and despite Bree being a full-back, he finished with the confidence of a striker, after being found beautifully by the Irish magician.

That would prove to be the decisive strike, with Azaz now up to a stellar eight goal contributions for the Championship season, from nine outings.

Amazingly, though, there is another EFL ace, who plies his trade in League Two, who has one more goal contribution to shout about than Azaz, who also stands out as the being the most productive player across the four major English divisions, even including the Premier League.

The shock EFL ace outshining Azaz

There are other Championship players this season who have eight goal contributions in their back pocket.

Unsurprisingly, Jarrod Bowen has five goals and three assists next to his name for promotion favourites, West Ham United.

Although, he should really be one goal better off, as he saw a last-gasp penalty be saved on Friday night against Queens Park Rangers.

In the Premier League, Joao Pedro also boasts eight contributions, while League One has Jack Marriott astoundingly on eight goals and zero assists for Reading.

Kabongo Tshimanga remains in a league of his own for Barnet in the fourth tier, away from the likes of Azaz and Co, with five goals and four assists tallied up for the Bees, from only eight League Two appearances this season.

He would remarkably find the back of the net last time out and assist Adam Senior's leveller from only 17 touches of the ball, as Dean Brennan's men ran out resounding 3-1 victors at Bristol Rovers.

Brennan is a huge fan of the Barnet sharpshooter, with Tshimanga labelled an "assassin" in front of goal by his manager.

Barnet will be hoping that the goals and assists keep flowing from their standout performer as promotion is chased after, with the confident striker continuing to make headlines for his ridiculously effective performances.

It will be interesting to see if where he is in these rankings come the end of the long campaign, with Azaz backing himself to keep providing assists and goals in Southampton's slog of second tier fixtures this month.

Azaz will hope the goals and assists keep flowing

Azaz is no stranger when it comes to hitting double digits for both goals and assists in a Championship season.

The 2024/25 season, when he was still donning Middlesbrough red, saw him collect a jaw-dropping 12 goals and 11 assists from 45 second tier appearances.

He fell just short of these heights last campaign, with a slow start under Will Still not helping his cause, but he still hit a very impressive ten goals and seven assists under the guidance of Tonda Eckert.

Cyle Larin often steals the limelight for his goalscoring prowess, with seven Championship goals already tucked away.

But, his Irish counterpart is equally key, as he can singlehandedly change games with his unbelievable class, as seen during the South Coast Derby, when he cut open the Pompey defence for fun to tee up Bree.

At the moment, he isn't quite as productive as Tshimanga down in the pits of League Two.

Yet, he will be back himself to one of the most efficient performers in the entire Championship when all is said and done with the 46-game marathon, with a promotion to the Premier League hopefully in his grasp, as well.
