Five left-backs to replace Southampton’s outgoing Ryan Bertrand

Ridgeciano Haps

Lightning-quick Dutch defender Ridgeciano Haps is another highly obtainable replacement for Ryan Bertrand at Southampton. Unlike fellow left-back Jetro Willems he doesn’t come with a huge reputation, and therefore could be a fairly cheap addition to the squad.

The Saints have actually been credited with interest in the AZ defender before, and as he possesses a great dribbling ability and a decent pass he could be a solid addition. What’s more, at 23 he’s once again got room to grow and improve as a footballer in the coming years.

Alkmaar fell below expectations and finished sixth in the Eredivisie this season, offering more reasons for why Haps may want to move on to pastures new.

Despite their lower-placed finish he still set up two goals while scoring another en-route to making over 40 appearances in all competitions.
