Weighing up the pros and cons of Jay Rodriguez leaving Southampton

West Bromwich Albion confirmed the signing of Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez Sunday afternoon in a £12 millon deal.

The England international leaves Saints after a torrid time with injury which left him on the fringes of the first team and in search of regular football.

The deal could potentially rise to as much as £15 million depend on add ons, meaning Southampton could potentially make more than double their investment on the former Burnley man, who joined for a then-club record of £7 million in 2012.

The news comes just a day after Southampton signed Sam Gallagher on to a new four-year deal, making the departure much less surprising. But what are the pros and cons of Jay Rodriguez leaving? Ethan Evans reacts…
