Manchester City have signed two left backs in the past couple of weeks, effectively ending any interest in Southampton full-back Ryan Bertrand. However reports continue to emerge linking the 27-year-old to his former club Chelsea.

Bertrand swapped west London for the south coast three years ago, seeing his long term development best served by regular Premier League football. Since then he has become one of the most consistent parts of an ever-changing back four and an integral part of Southampton’s continued progression.

But with limited options on the left aside from Marcos Alonso, Chelsea are reportedly back in the market for the man who was once a part of their Champions League winning team.

Whether or not a return to his former club is an attractive prospect for Bertrand remains to be seen, but Southampton need to consider their options should a realistic bid come in.

With transfer rumours continuing to circulate around Cedric, a few weeks ago we looked at three potential right-backs for Southampton to consider as replacements.

So now it’s time to swap flanks and consider some options should Bertrand leave St. Mary’s. We looked at five last month, but here are three more of my favourites from around Europe.
