After reaching the final last time out, Southampton start their latest Carabao Cup journey tonight, as they face the Championship’s Wolverhampton Wanderers.

I got the chance to speak to Wolves fan Dave Azzopardi about tonight’s opponents and his thoughts on his team and the game itself ahead of the second round tie of the Carabao Cup.

What have you made of Wolves’ start to the season?

"“It had been very positive. We have had a fairly strong start to the season sitting third in the league with nine points from 12. Some of the football we have played has been extremely good and I hope it bodes for a successful season.”"

What are your hopes for Wolves’ season come May?

"“I think we have to finish top six at least, especially with the amount of money we have spent. Our start has been very impressive and we have one of the strongest sides in the league for promotion/play-offs has got to be the aim.”"

More from Saints Marching

Is Santos likely to make a lot of changes for Wednesday night?

"“It’s hard to say at the moment, I think it depends how seriously he’s going to take the competition. There will definitely be changes to keep a few players fresh but I think it will still generally be a first team squad.”"

Who should Southampton be looking out for on Wednesday night?

"“A big talking point this summer was obviously Ruben Neves from Porto. I think he is a player to look out for because he can dictate the play and boasts killer passes. I think Ivan Cavaleiro may start and on his day he is extremely hard to mark and defend against.”"

What are your expectations and score prediction?

"“On the top of our game we could rival a number of Premier League teams, we showed that in the F.A Cup last year. If we can perform on the day we can win but it depends how the home side line up. I’m going to sit on the fence and say its an extra-time and penalties job!”"

Thanks to Dave for helping us out with that one and best of luck to Wolves in their bid for promotion!
