Southampton claimed their first away win of the season against Crystal Palace on Saturday. And although the margin of victory was just a single goal, there was no shortage of talking points for Saints fans.

Following a disappointing home defeat to Watford in the previous week, fans were intrigued to see how Mauricio Pellegrino would react. And although the setup remained the same, the manager made four changes to his starting lineup.

Yoshida replaced Stephens, Long started up front instead of Gabbiadini, and the midfield was shuffled to include Lemina and Tadic at the expense of Ward-Prowse and Boufal.

Crystal Palace have had a disastrous start to the season, failing to score a single league goal before sacking manager Frank de Boer after only four league games. Facing a team just after the appointment of a new manager is often difficult though, so Saints will be buoyed after putting a dampener on Roy Hodgson’s early tenure.

But aside from the win, what else stood out for Southampton fans at Selhurst Park?
