Midfielders

Defensive-Midfielder. Southampton. STEVEN DAVIS. 6.5. The only goal of the game coming from an unlikely source, Davis took his opportunity well with a cool finish into the bottom left-hand corner. The midfielder had great awareness in this game despite the threat of Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The skipper has shown great leadership since the start of the season. It’s also rather fitting that the Northern Irishman scored on his 200th appearance for the club.

5.5. Romeu’s performance was hesitant at times although most of the responsibility on the defensive side of midfield was mainly on his shoulders. It was by no means a performance worthy of him dropping out of the Man United fixture.. Defensive-Midfielder. Southampton. ORIOL ROMEU

MARIO LEMINA . 8. It was definitely Lemina’s best performance since signing for Southampton. The 24-year-old won all of his aerial duels and completed all take-ons in the match. If Lemina could start adding goals to his game as well as doing the dirty side of the game, he would be a perfect player for the Saints. Like Forster, hopefully the £18m signing can start to build on what was a great individual performance.. Attacking-Midfielder . Southampton

Redmond had the same threat Tadic had on the counter attack. I feel Redmond plays better when the Saints play a defensive shape. The winger’s pace is a real threat but like Tadic, the 23-year-old lacks an end product.. Attacking-Midfielder. Southampton. NATHAN REDMOND. 6.5

7. A much improved Tadic caused a threat on the counter attack and combined with lone striker Shane Long well. It was a performance the Serb needed after his struggles so far this season. But the negative side of the 28-year-old’s game remains his end product.. Attacking-Midfielder. Southampton. DUSAN TADIC
