Southampton: Gabbiadini’s agent dismisses transfer rumours
By Chris Hughes
The Italian’s agent has commented on his client’s future with Southampton, after rumours linking him back to his native country.
Three goals so far this season leaves Manolo Gabbiadini as the Saints’ joint second-highest scorer, but with those goals coming from 16 appearances, it’s no surprise to see rumours swirling regarding the Italian’s future.
Despite being signed as recently as January of this year, Gabbiadini has failed to reach the heights of last season, when he scored in each of his first four games for the Saints as well as grabbing a brace in the EFL Cup final.
Although it’s arguable that Gabbiadini’s lack of goals may of come from a lack of service, Charlie Austin has thrived since becoming a starter and has scored four goals since getting the nod against Everton.
Despite this, the 26-year-old’s agent has insisted that Gabbiadini will – for now – remain a Southampton player.
"“We’re fine there in England. For now, we’re certainly not talking about it. But, in the market, never say never”"
Roll the clock back six months and the idea of Gabbiadini leaving seemed like an impossibility, having been so important to the Saints over the second half of last season.

However, his lack of physicality has seen him struggle in recent months, yet despite this, he is still valued highly by his national side and would be welcomed back to the Serie A with open arms.
Gabbiadini is a highly-talented and all-rounded forward but if he continues to struggle whilst Austin thrives, it’s difficult to imagine that the Saints would reject a decent bid for the striker.
Southampton only spent around £14 million on the former-Napoli man back at the start of the year, meaning it’d be difficult for the Saints to make a serious loss on the 26-year-old.
For now though at least, it seems like Gabbiadini will remain a Southampton player – let’s hope he can re-find the form that won him the PFA Fan’s Player of the Month for February.
