Goalkeeper and Defenders

Southampton. FRASER FORSTER. 7.5. Really was not worked by Huddersfield apart from a Schindler header early in the game.  It was a tremendous save though…  Actually passed the ball out of the back three times instead of smashing it long.. Goalkeeper

6.5. Deployed as the right full-back today by Mauricio Pellegrino which was a welcome surprise with Pied expected to get the nod.  Defended very well, but looked out of place attacking on the right wing.. Right full-back. Southampton. JACK STEPHENS

6.5. A very solid performance in Targett’s long awaited return.  Did not make the attacking runs forward like Bertrand, but defended well for the full 90 minutes.. Left full-back. Southampton. MATT TARGETT

6. Yoshida’s rating would have been higher had he not lost Depoitre for the equalizer, and/or had headed home the game winner in the dying minutes.. Centre-back. Southampton. MAYA YOSHIDA

7.5. Had his hands full dealing with the size and strength of Depoitre.  Particularly in the first half.  Was good in possession, and made accurate passes over distance to get Southampton out of the back.. Centre-back. Southampton. WESLEY HOEDT
