Strikers and Substitutes

A truly eventful game for Austin… Scored a poacher’s goal to give Southampton the lead.  Left a foot in, and kicked the Huddersfield keeper in the face, which he may need to explain to the FA.  Missed a chance to give the Saints three points after Redmond set him up beautifully.  Then immediately signaled to the sidelines he had injured his hamstring after a strike.. Striker. Southampton. CHARLIE AUSTIN. 7.5

Substitute defensive centre-midfielder. Southampton. PIERRE-EMILE HOJBJERG. 5. Entered in the 72nd minute for Steven Davis to take control of a midfield that was getting lost.  Did not make much of an impact on either side of the ball.

SOFIANE BOUFAL. 6. You never know which Boufal will show up.  This was the one full of tricks, looks so dangerous taking players on, and still makes the wrong decisions at the wrong time.  Lost the ball once or twice and did not even try to win it back, which tells me the manager is not developing his mentality properly.. Substitute Attacking-midfielder. Southampton

5. We are going to see a lot of him over the next couple weeks after Austin left with a hamstring injury.  Still failing to connect with the players around him.. Substitute Striker. Southampton. MANOLO GABBIADINI
