Guido Carrillo
The Argentinian made his Premier League bow last night with the expectation of almost 30,000 resting squarely on his shoulders. I thought he did well, getting stuck in and winning back the ball for his new side – holding it up well when the sluggish midfield struggled to get up with play, etc.
The ex-Monaco man seemed to win the fans as well, with the Northam singing his name on several occasions. He almost latched on to a loose ball as it rolled towards Matt Ryan in what would’ve been a dream start in the Premier League. Carrillo certainly seemed a very willing runner, even from the very first whistle.
He certainly showed glimpses of being a good acquisition for Saints, but the question to be asked is: why roll the dice? Why not get someone in who knows the league and has a good goalscoring record in the league?
