Midfielders

6.5. Oriol was not incredibly sharp today, but worked so hard he had to be taken off with 10 minutes to go.  One of those games where if you don’t watch closely, you can miss his impact.. Defensive centre-midfielder. Southampton. ORIOL ROMEU

Southampton. MARIO LEMINA. 7.5. Was forced to leave the game early due to suspected illness.  Still had a great first half, as the Southampton fans lauded him in possession.  If healthy, must be in the starting eleven the rest of the way.. Defensive centre-midfielder

6.5. Missed a great chance to score in the first half, all alone from six yards out.  Worked so hard, but looked tired in the final 15 minutes, but so did the entire team.  Was not very crisp in possession, but shows as much progression and passion as any of his teammates.. Centre-midfielder. Southampton. PIERRE-EMILE HOJBJERG

4. Turns the ball over way too much to warrant a starting position.  Other than a single cross to the head of Ward-Prowse, contributed nearly nothing to the attack.. Attacking-midfielder. Southampton. DUSAN TADIC

6. Did not influence the game enough other than a few decent set pieces.  Was subbed out for Long after 70 minutes.  Missed his chances in the first half with a couple of headers that a typical striker would have done better with.. Attacking-midfielder. Southampton. JAMES WARD-PROWSE
