Southampton: News on moves away for 3 Saints academy products
By Marc Walker
Some of Southampton’s fringe players could potentially move out on-loan or on permanent deals before the end of the transfer window in August.
With the Southampton board looking to strengthen Mark Hughes’ squad ahead of the 2018/19 season and four arrivals already through the door, it seems like game-time will be even harder to come by for some.
One of the players who has struggled to break into the first-team at St Mary’s is Ryan Seager, and the 22-year-old striker has now joined Dutch second-tier club SC Telstar on a season-long loan.
He also spent loan spells at Yeovil Town and MK Dons during 2017/18 and scored five goals in 29 appearances across the season. He has played in two senior games for Saints and it remains unclear if he will be able to make the grade at the club.
Fulham are said to be stepping up their pursuit of Matt Targett once again despite being told that the Left-Back was not for sale.

According to skysports.com, the Cottagers had a £5m approach for the 22-year-old rejected by the Saints, who remain keen to keep him as part of a highly competitive squad.
Targett spent last season on-loan at Craven Cottage and helped Fulham achieve promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.
Aston Villa are believed to be the latest club to have joined the race for to sign Sam Gallagher on-loan from Saints for the upcoming campaign.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Steve Bruce is a long-term admirer of the striker and a loan would be a cheaper option with Villa’s precarious financial position.
Gallagher travelled to China with Saints for their pre-season tour and scored the winner in the team’s 3-2 victory over Jiangsu Suning on Wedensday. Sheffield United are also said to be keen on signing him this summer.
Places in Mark Hughes’ squad could be found for many of these younger players but moves away would certainly benefit them more if they feel the need for consistent game-time.
