Beginning of a defining period for both teams

This is clearly a game where both sides will be thinking they can take the win, but both need a healthy amount of points from their upcoming fixtures for entirely different reasons.

After facing Bournemouth, Saints play Newcastle at home, Manchester City away, Watford at home and Fulham away.

This is a crucial time for Mark Hughes and his side to pull themselves up the table and away from danger going into a hectic Christmas spell.

Bournemouth on the other hand are looking to cement their place well inside the top-half. They’re currently just two points off fourth place and will want to prove the doubters wrong.

They head into a run of games against Saints, Fulham, Manchester United and Newcastle in which they could certainly boost their prospects for the season even further.
