Southampton/Leicester learn potential Carabao Cup opponents
By Marc Walker
Southampton and Leicester City have learnt their potential opponents for the Carabao Cup Quarter-Finals after the draw was made this evening.
A tie against at home to either Manchester City or Fulham awaits for the team that wins the recently postponed Fourth-Round fixture, although a date is yet to be set for the rearranged clash at the King Power Stadium.
Saints were due to face Leicester on Tuesday, but the game was postponed following the tragic helicopter crash outside the Foxes’ ground at the weekend that killed five people including club owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.
The Quarter-Final stage awaits the eventual winner and whoever comes out on top will host either Manchester City or Fulham during the week beginning the 17th December.
Saints reached the Fourth-Round after seeing off Brighton and Everton, whilst Leicester beat Fleetwood Town and Wolves.

In the other Quarter-Final ties, a North-London derby was set up between Arsenal and Spurs, Championship side Middlesbrough host Jake Hesketh’s Burton Albion and Chelsea welcome Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge.
If Mark Hughes and his side progress to the last eight, they will be facing their fourth game against Premier League opponents.
Manchester City have won the competition in three of the last five years and look in strong form in the league, whilst Fulham have found adjusting to life back in the top-flight difficult so far.
The two sides play their Fourth-Round tie tomorrow because of a packed schedule for City. They face Spurs on Monday and now head into games tomorrow and at the weekend.
Saints’ next Premier League game is this coming Sunday as they travel to the Etihad Stadium to face City in what will be a tough test.
Despite being defensively strong for the last two games against Bournemouth and Newcastle, creating and scoring chances is the main issue for Saints at the moment and they currently have the second-worst chance conversion rate in the Premier League.
