Shane Long could join Sheffield United?

Shane Long’s form in front of goal has hit rock bottom over the past year and he could be set for a move away from St Mary’s.

A column from journalist Alan Biggs in the Sheffield Star recently noted that Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is looking to bring Long and Bournemouth’s Jermain Defoe to Bramall Lane in January.

The Blades started the 2018/19 season in top form and were top of the Championship for a while until their results dropped off. However, they still sit in fourth and have a real chance of promotion to the Premier League.

They will be hoping that a move for a Premier League standard striker can fire them to the top-flight and it could be that Long is handed an opportunity to reinvent his career.
