‘Tis the season for transfer rumors! Still 11 days out from the New Year and the January transfer window, rumors are already starting to fly.

The latest comes out of Paris, where PSG are looking to raid a number of Premier League teams for a replacement for outgoing, Adrien Rabiot. The players on this list include Everton’s Idrissa Gana Gueye, Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure, and our very own Mario Lemina.

The rumored price the French side are willing to pay for the Gabon international is no more than £30m as they are looking to stay within the FIFA Financial Fair Play laws.

More from Saints Marching

Hasenhuttl took some time today during his press conference to address the rumors surrounding the midfielder and stated that Lemina is a very important part of the team and he hopes to have him moving forward. But, the club will be constantly analyzing their situation and in January nothing is out of the realm of possibility.

Lemina leaving to join PSG would deal a definite blow to the Saints. He has been a creative force all season in the midfield and has developed a solid relationship with his teammates and fellow midfield partner, Pierre-Emili Hojbjerg.

If he leaves, the Saints would have to be in the market for another midfielder. The depth at that position would be thin and an injury to either Hojbjerg or Romeu would leave Ralph’s side with very few options left.

Hopefully, Lemina is not keen on making a move in January and does not force his way out. It is not every day a team like PSG come knocking on the door. They obviously have much more to offer than Southampton at the moment. Things such as a domestic title, Champions League, and higher wages but the excitement around the South Coast team and Hasenhuttl may be enough to keep Lemina satisfied until at least the summer.
