Huddersfield 1-3 Southampton: Three Key Players
Southampton secured 3 more points and more breathing room from the relegation zone in an exciting match against the Terriers.
Winning away from home is never easy in the Premier League, but Ralph, had the players ready to go and had a game plan in place to secure all 3 points. Nathan Redmond, finally getting the goal he deserved, got the scoring started in the 15th minute. He was followed up by Danny Ings who converted from the spot just before halftime and the Saints went into the locker room with a 2 goal lead.
It was more of the same in the second half but the Terriers did manage to score on a shot from far out that caught McCarthy on the wrong foot. The momentum was with the home side until history was made and youngster Michael Obafemi became the Saints youngest ever goal scorer in the Premier League. That put the visitors up 1-3 and they were able to see of the match without any issues.
Everyone played well again but let’s look at the 3 who were key to victory for Southampton.
Pierre-Emili Hojbjerg
The Captain, has solidified himself as, “Mr. Consistent.” Week in and week out, supporters know what they are going to get out of the young midfielder. Saturday was no different. He dominated the midfield both offensively and defensively. His impact was felt almost immediately when he fed Redmond with a pinpoint accurate through-ball that lead to the opening goal of the match.
On the defensive side, Hojbjerg had 2 successful tackles to go with 2 interceptions. He has really become the engine in the midfield and can do it all.

Unfortunately, he will have to miss the West Ham due to yellow card accumulation so we will most likely see a midfield duo of Romeu and Lemina on Thursday.
Nathan Redmond
Finally, Redmond found the back of the net. The relief and joy on his face when he realized the goal drought was incredible. He has played so well all season and deserved that moment. Along with the goal, the Englishman also added an assist to his total.
He was causing havoc all day for the Huddersfield defense and they did not seem to have an answer for him. He completed 31 passes, had 4 shots, and 62 touches. He was the key to unlocking the Terriers defense and it was a joy to watch.
Hopefully, he will continue scoring and can put in a few against the Hammers!
Michael Obafemi
The youngster did it! Saturday, he became the clubs youngest ever Premier League goal scorer when he slotted the ball home to secure all 3 points for the away side. The 18-year-old came on for Ings in the 65th when Hasenhuttl elected to go for a bit of pace to close out the match.
He flew around whenever there was a chance to counter attack and was on defenders in an instant when they received the all.
It was great to see him finally hit the back of the net. It seems like every time he steps on the pitch he has been in opportunities to score. This should open the flood gates!
