League One side Accrington Stanley will host Southampton or Derby County in the FA Cup after the Fourth-Round draw was made this evening.

The eventual tie is due to be played on the weekend of the 25th-28th January and a replay will decide which of Saints or Derby is to travel North in Round Four.

After a 2-2 draw at Pride Park on Saturday, a date is yet to be set for a replay but will be played during next week, commencing the 14th January.

Saints were 2-0 ahead in the tie after Nathan Redmond’s superb brace but the Rams hit back with two second-half strikes from Jack Marriott and Tom Lawrence.

Accrington have been handed another home draw and Championship or Premier League opposition after beating second-tier Ipswich Town 1-0 over the weekend.

More from Saints Marching

Billy Kee’s goal 14 minutes from time proved to be enough for them to progress and pile more misery on their opponents who sit 10 points adrift at the bottom of the Championship.

Stanley are currently enjoying a spell in the third-tier of English football after securing promotion from League Two last season and sit in 13th place in the table.

They have only faced Saints four times before back in the late 1950s and also faced Derby four times in the same decade, but are perhaps best known for their part in a 1980s television advert for milk.

If Saints progress, it will be the first time since the 2010/11 campaign that they have faced a team from League One or below in the FA Cup; amazingly the second season that they spent in the third-tier themselves as they beat Shrewsbury Town and Cheltenham Town in the first and second rounds.

Other ties of note see the lowest team left in the competition in non-league Barnet face Championship side Brentford, Arsenal host Manchester United and Crystal Palace face Tottenham Hotspur.

Saints fans will still be hopeful of a potential clash with rivals Portsmouth later in the FA Cup after they were drawn to face QPR.
