Southampton vs Derby County: FA Cup replay – Preview and Predictions
The first match up saw the Championship side comeback from a 2-0 deficit and force a replay. Will Southampton go through this time?
Coming off a victory in the league and now out of the relegation zone, the focus turns to the league cup as the Saints take on the pesky Derby County for the second time.
With a favorable match up up in the next round the Saints will look to seize this opportunity to make a cup run if they believe they can avoid relegation comfortably.
Why Southampton Will Win
It will come down to who Hasenhuttl decides to rest and who he decides to trot out there to face Derby. I am sure we will see a strong mix of first team players and academy players getting the start and would expect Angus Gunn will get the start
With a favorable match up waiting in the next round for the winner, Hasenhuttl, should embrace the opportunity to make a cup run and put a winning lineup out there. I expect the Saints to try and dominate the whole match given the fact that they let up on the gas a bit in the last match.
I think many Saints fans feel indifferent about this match. A win is always great but getting out the competition would not be the end of the world.

Why Derby Will Win
Derby still sit 6th in the Championship and gave Southampton a tough fight at home in the first match between the two sides at home. The first match will give them the confidence they need to believe they can win at St. Marys and their manager will push them to do so.
Their star player, Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson, did not play in the first match up but could be a key player if he features this time around. He is not afraid to take on a shot anywhere remotely near the net and if they get a free-kick opportunity within 30 yards of the net he will be standing over it looking to strike it home.
Derby have quality and it was shown through two well worked goals just a few weeks ago. They will be facing a stronger Southampton but will still look to beat the Saints.
