The first match up saw Southampton fall 3-1 to the Spurs at Wembley in what was a comfortable win for the London based side.

Coming into this match, Tottenham are holding onto a top 4 position by 4 points and will look to take advantage of a matchup they have dominated the past few seasons. Over the last 12 matchups between these two teams, Tottenham have won 10 of them.

Dele Alli may return for the Spurs and will look to ride the momentum of moving on in the Champions League. It will be a tough match for the Saints but it is possible. Here is how both teams could win on Saturday.

Why Southampton Will Win

The Saints will have a fight on their hands but they are returning home to St. Mary’s where their performances at home are slowly improving. Danny Ings, will not be available for this match so it will likely be Charlie Austin up top again.

The home side will have to come into this match with the same intensity and fire that they did against Manchester United. They have to play hard and play solid if they hope to get a result from this match.

Spurs, offensive fire power will be an issue and the defense will need to put in a performance similar to what they did at Stamford Bridge if they want to get a result from this match. Holding Spurs scoreless or just to a single goal will have to happen. Anything more than a goal may be too much for the Saints to handle.

Saint supporters will look for James Ward-Prowse to continue his goal scoring form and if the Englishman can find the back of the net it could go a long way in this match.

Why Tottenham Will Win

The Spurs are almost back to full strength and looking to maintain their spot in the top 4.  They are coming off a win mid-week in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund and have to be feeling confident coming into this match.

Harry Kane is looking more like Harry Kane again and that is bad news for Southampton. With the combination of Kane and Son the Spurs can score at any moment and they will look to put this game to rest early.

They will likely have the majority of the possession and if Eriksen is given time to find passes to pick apart the defense it will be a long day for Southampton.

If they score early and keep the pressure on the home team this could be an easy three points for the London team.
