Goals Scored

Southampton currently ranks 15th in the Premier League goal charts this season, scoring 35 goals in 31 games. This equates to 1.13 goals per game. However, since Hasenhuttl’s first game against Cardiff, his side has scored 22 goals in 16 games, an average of 1.37 goals per game.

The average under their new manager would see them rank 9th in the scoring charts, with only Watford, Everton and the big 6 ahead of them. It might surprise you to learn that fans watching Saints games this have seen more goals this season than those choosing to watch Everton, Leicester and Wolves.

Under Hughes, they scored 12 goals in 14 games, including a wretched run of 6 games without a goal. They ended this drought by scoring at Manchester City. The only problem with this game is that they also conceded 6. The end was near for Sparky. Less than a month later, Mark Hughes was sacked.
